Education Forum on Consolidation of Schools

Time 7:00 PM
Purpose of the Forum:
To receive oral and written questions from the
public, municipal and school officials on school consolidation proposals.
There is no statutory requirement to hold this forum. The Public Hearing
on these consolidation proposals was held on February 5, 2007, at the
Augusta Civic Center. Education Commissioner Gendron is conducting this
smaller forum at the request of the Legislative delegation for their
constituents in the proposed Region 25.
Agenda:
7:00 PM: Saco Mayor Johnston states opening remarks, and introduces dignitaries
Senators and Legislators – then introduces the meeting moderator Bill Johnson.
7:05 PM: Meeting moderator opens the meeting, then explains the
meeting process and introduces Commissioner Gendron.
7:10 PM: Commissioner Gendron presents a summary of
consolidation proposals.
7:30 PM Public question and answer period.~
Questions from residents of the proposed Region 25 municipalities of Arundel,
Biddeford, Dayton, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Old Orchard Beach and Saco
If a person wishes to speak, they must enter their name and address on a
sign-up sheet when they arrive, and they will speak in order of the
sign-up sheet. If time does not permit all of those signed up to speak,
they may submit written questions, that the Commissioner will take with
her, to be answered at a later time.
8:30 PM: 10 minutes recess.
8:40 PM: Commissioner Gendron will receive questions from a sub-group, comprised of five (5) school or municipal officials from each municipality of Arundel, Biddeford, Dayton, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Old Orchard Beach, and Saco. All members of the public are welcome to stay and listen to discussion.

Decorum:
Confine remarks to the consolidation proposals.
Refrain from attacking motives.
Address all remarks through the moderator.
Limits on comments: each person wishing to speak will be given one two-minute period to present questions
