A marriage license may be obtained from the Town Clerk, for a fee of $20.00. Marriage intentions should be filed in the office of the clerk of the municipality in which at least one of them resides. If both parties to a marriage reside outside the state of Maine, they must file their intentions in any Municipal Office. There is no waiting period and the license is valid for 90 days. For persons previously married, a certificate must be presented indicating the dissolution of the former marriage (death certificate or divorce papers).
