DAYTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY
APRIL 30, 2002
The April meeting of the Dayton Historical Society was called to order on the 30th at 6:45 PM by Vice President Bill Harris at the Franklin School. Thirteen people were in attendance. The Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports were read and placed on file. The checking account at that time contained a balance of $666.05.
The flagpole donated by the Maine Turnpike Authority at the request of Jon Coniaris has been delivered to Andy’s Agway and is awaiting installation. The flagpole committee consists of Jon, Andy Cole, and Dick Sullivan. Dixie Harris volunteered to pick up a flag. It was decided that the flag will be flown for special occasions and on holidays, and Dick Sullivan and Valerie Cole agreed to be responsible for raising it as needed.
Electrical service has been installed to the building but the structure still needs to be rewired. It was decided to do nothing at this point until we have more money in the treasury and a more current estimate on rewiring.
A work meeting was planned for Tuesday, May 21, at 6 PM. Things to do include cleaning inside and out, filling in the hole near the corner by the door, and taking down the old flagpole. Clark Cole volunteered to look into getting sand for the hole, and to check with David Cushman about getting new windows.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 6:30 PM at the school.
Respectfully submitted,
Valerie Cole, Secretary
