Dayton Historical Society
December 3, 2002
The December 3rd meeting of the Dayton Historical Society was called to order by President Andy Cole at 6:45 PM. Eight members and two visitors were in attendance. The Secretary’s report was read and accepted. There was no Treasurer’s report.
Under old business, we are awaiting a quote from Jeremy Berube on repairing the foundation. Nancy and Dick Sullivan finished covering the windows at the schoolhouse with plastic for the winter and picked up the clapboards that have fallen off. Nancy wondered if there are any fixtures or other items worth saving from the former Lincoln Schoolhouse, now located at Dayton Sand and Gravel. Andy volunteered to check into this.
Under new business, Dixie Harris suggested that it would be a good idea to have a membership application form that could be placed at businesses around town and at Town Meeting. Valerie agreed to work on this. Several suggestions were made to help increase membership, such as a membership drive, a movie night (featuring the early movie filmed at the Union Falls Bridge, if available) and programs and/or guest speakers for the meetings.
The next meeting was planned for 6:30 PM on February 11h at the Harris Farm Ski Hut. Meeting adjourned at 7:45 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Valerie Cole, Secretary
