DAYTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY
September 30, 2003
The September 30th meeting of the Dayton Historical Society was called to order by President Andy Cole at 6:40 PM with 14 members present. The Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports were read and accepted. The checkbook balance is currently $13,270.25.
Under old business, builder Jeremy Berube indicated that he may be able to start working on Franklin School is about two weeks time. Dave Hill has agreed to do the necessary digging for us.
Jon checked with Charlene Fortin about doing the proposed spaghetti dinner in April, and received an OK.
Members talked over more fund-raising ideas such as commemorative coins and a special postal cancellation. Nancy brought in a newspaper cutting about Wells 350th for more ideas.
Under new business, Dick Sullivan has offered to donate and install a 20-foot aluminum flagpole.
After the short business meeting members watched two borrowed videos, one on logging and one on harvesting ice.
The meeting adjourned at 8:15. The next meeting is scheduled for October 21st at Harris Farm Ski Hut.
