Dayton Historical Society
March 29, 2005
ADMINISTRATIVE:
The March 29, 2005 meeting of the Dayton Historical Society was called to order by President Andy Cole at 6:30 PM at Harris Farm. Fifteen people were in attendance. The Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports were read and accepted, with a balance of $3315.51 in the checking account.
OLD BUSINESS:
The Historical Society has now received a total of $1270 in donations in memory of Jere Guiney. Andy Cole read a note from Sheila Guiney, who is pleased at the idea of having a memorial in the schoolhouse for Jere.
Andy Cole has not been able to contact the woman who creates calendars from photos and thinks she may be gone for the winter. He will continue to call.
Andy will call Bruce Monroe and ask him to bring the video of the July 10th parade to the next meeting for viewing.
John Coniaris has sold eleven coins on eBay and will continue to offer them, as well as T-shirts
A warrant has been submitted to the town in the amount of $5000. This is an increase over the $500 that was originally submitted.
Members started looking at color choices for the exterior of the Franklin Schoolhouse. John Coniaris offered to have his son take photos of the schoolhouse and print them out with different color combinations. Painter Ladd Huff anticipates that it will take several weeks to complete the work.
NEW BUSINESS:
Dixie Harris and Amos Gay are involved with the Saco Museum in setting up an exhibit titled “Barn Again”, featuring photos and artifacts from old barns. The exhibit runs from April 7th until early June.
A clean-up night is scheduled for Tuesday, April 19th, 6:30 pm at the Franklin Schoolhouse.
The meeting adjourned at 7:00. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2005 6:30 PM at Harris Farm. .
