Dayton Historical Society
April 26, 2005
ADMINISTRATIVE:
The April 26, 2005 meeting of the Dayton Historical Society was called to order by President Andy Cole at 6:30 PM at Harris Farm. Twelve people were in attendance. The Secretary’s report was read and accepted. The Treasurer’s report was phoned in; there is a balance of $3315.93 in the checking account.
OLD BUSINESS:
Andy Cole has not been able to contact the woman who creates calendars from photos. He will continue to call.
Andy will call Bruce Monroe and ask him to bring the video of the July 10th parade to the next meeting for viewing.
John Coniaris brought in photos of the Franklin Schoolhouse that his son had printed out in different colors. After much discussion, it was voted to paint the exterior white, with a dark red trim.
Ladd Huff and Shawn Lydon of Lydon Painting have been scraping, caulking, and priming the exterior of the school. They anticipate that it will take several weeks to complete the work due to the recent wet weather.
Several members met on April 19th for a clean-up night at the school. They hauled away three truckloads of wood and other debris.
NEW BUSINESS:
Amos Gay announced the annual meeting of the Goodwins Mills Cemetery Association on Tuesday, May 10th, 7PM at the Blacksmith Shop at the Advent Christian Church. He invited all those interested to attend.
Members decided to organize a bake sale for the upcoming June 7th town election, and to sell T-shirts and coins on both Election Day and at Town Meeting on June 10th.
The meeting adjourned at 7:05. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 6:30 PM at the Franklin School.
Respectfully submitted,
Valerie Cole, Secretary
