DAYTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY
September 26, 2006
Administrative:
The September 26, 2006 meeting was called to order by President Bill Harris at 6:40 PM at the Harris Farm Ski Hut. Fifteen people were in attendance. The Secretary’s report was read and accepted. The Treasurer’s report was read and placed on file, with a balance of $2491.56 in the checking account. The Secretary will submit a warrant to the Town Selectmen for the funds voted to the Historical Society at the June 2006 town meeting.
Old Business:
A few photos were presented for the 2007 calendar. The members of the calendar committee were asked to finalize the decision and get the photos to the printer. The committee will report back at the next meeting.
Members discussed renovating the interior of the Franklin Schoolhouse. The general opinion was to use the tin in the entry to patch and repair as much as possible in the main schoolroom and finish the entryway at a later date. Ladd Huff has quoted approximately $4850 to complete the main room. Members decided to meet at the schoolhouse in a couple weeks and discuss how much work should be done with the funds available.
The schoolhouse foundation needs to be vented; Dick Sullivan agreed to research the materials and discuss this with a contractor.
New Business:
Members will organize a bake sale for Election Day, November 7, 2006.
The meeting adjourned at 7:30 PM.
The next meeting will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2006. Members will meet at the Franklin Schoolhouse at 5:00 PM to look at the interior and discuss renovations. After this the members will go to Harris Farm Ski Hut for a potluck supper.
Respectfully submitted,
Valerie Cole
