DAYTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY
March 27, 2007
Administrative:
Fourteen members met at Harris Farm Ski Hut on Thursday, March 27, 2007 for a business meeting. Vice-President Bill Saltzer called the meeting to order at 6:35 PM. The Secretary’s report was read and accepted. The Treasurer’s report was read and placed on file, with a balance of $841.90 in the checking account.
Old Business:
Members discussed cleaning the cemetery behind Town Hall and decided on a work date on Saturday, April 21, at 10:00 AM. A local Boy Scout troop will also be contacted to see if they wish to help.
Dick Sullivan offered to install two temporary vents in the windows of the Franklin School to help alleviate the ventilation problem. He explained that the sill underneath the building is eight inches thick and hard to drill through, so currently the foundation is vented inside the building through an existing hole in the floor. He noted that there is also a broken pane of glass on the Buzzell Road side.
New Business:
The local Boy Scout troop has asked to visit the Franklin Schoolhouse on Wednesday, April 18th. Dick Sullivan and Virginia Procter will attend them; Virginia has offered to talk with the troupe and explain what it was like to go to school in a one-room schoolhouse.
The meeting adjourned at 7:05 PM. The next meeting will be held at the Franklin Schoolhouse on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 6:30 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Valerie Cole
Secretary
