Planning Board Minutes June 21, 2004
DAYTON PLANNING BOARD
Regular Meeting
                 June 21, 2004

Present:  Nancy Harrriman, Rose Marie Hill, Ron Wormwood,
Others Present: None

ADMINISTRATIVE BUSINESS:
Nancy Harriman acted as Chair.

OLD BUSINESS:
Gibbons Rifle Range:  Members pulled the file on the Gibbons Rifle Range and noted that at the time of the application and sitewalk (1994) there was a concern about spent lead bullets landing in the Saco River.  The application was never acted upon and no CUP was issued. The current concern is about the amount of gunshot noise generated on weekends by people who are presumably relatives of Mrs. Gibbons.  The Selectmen noted that they haven’t received any complaints.  So far the complaints received have been from residents of Saco, across the river from the Gibbons residence.  Ron suggested that the matter could be brought before the Saco River Corridor Commission to see if they have a concern with the noise level.  Members decided to table the issue until the next meeting.

Preston Gravel Pit:  Members pulled the file on Preston Gravel Pit to see if any further action has been taken since 2003.  There is an application for a CUP on file, but it is dated in 2001 and may no longer be a valid application.  It was noted in the November 2003 minutes that the Board was still awaiting a current completed application and the application fee.  The last communication received from Mrs. Preston was a set of site maps in May 2003.  The matter was tabled until there are more members available for further discussion.

Dearborn Gravel Pit:  Members looked through the Dearborn file to find the wording on the number of trucks allowed per day.  There is some concern that the pit is exceeding its maximum number of trucks.  The wording in Condition 15B of the Conditional Use Permit reads  (in part) “…highest daily average per calendar month no more than 25 round trips…” The condition also makes provision for the Town to inspect and verify this.  Nancy asked the Selectmen if they wished to look into the matter and the Selectmen indicated that an inspection should probably be held.  The issue was then tabled until more Board members are available to discuss the matter.

The meeting adjourned at 8:00.  The next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 19th, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall.
